He also went by the name of Seis.164 He Olga Verstraete said he was Ernest, but they called him Sies. He never married, he lived in the elderly-house in Biezenstraat until he died. Miriam DeBaets remembers that she was his favorite when they ate together at Louise Verstraete's house, and had small red eyes!164

Augustus9 Standard (Joannes8Standaert, Constantinius7, Ambrosius6, Petrus5, Balduinus4, Balduin3, Boudewijn2, Jan1) was born on 2 Jan 1863 at Eede, NLD.166,144 He married Jenny France circa 1891 at Paterson.167 He was buried on 19 Feb 1945 at Holy Sepulchre, Sect O, Lot 259-3, Totowa, The Holy Sepulchre cemetary card file says age 73, died in 1945, therefore born 1872 not 1863?. However, Frank's obituary in 1938 does NOT show August as alive, and actual birth was in 1863, therefore, cemetary records should list death as 1935 not 1945? Cemetery records show he is buried in plot with VanHook's. Who are they? Wife's family?168

He was also known as Augustus Standaert.151 He was also known as Bernard Pop always called him uncle 'Bernard' but no other reference to Bernard in any of the records? Aunt Flory once referred to him as "Bruno". Miriam deBaets from Holland heard him referred to as "de Bruinen" or "brown one"?

Living with wife, Jennie, age 29, and 2 children. Jennie immigrated in 1883. They were married for 8 years (About 1891). Their children were: Mary, age 6, and John, age 3.

Augustus Standard appeared on the census of 1910 at 65 Highland St, Paterson, and was listed as August Standard, age 47, living at 65 Highland St, immigrated in1890, and was a Weaver in a silk mill. Living with his wife, Jennie, age 40 and 3 children. Jennie immigrated in 1885 and was born in Holland. Their children were: Mary, age 16, John, age 13, August, age 1 and 10/12. They were married for 18 years by this time.

He was living with his wife, Jennie, age 49, who immigrated in 1885 and was naturalized in1896. Their children were: Mary, age 26, Silk Weaver and Frank, age 11. Their son John was shown living at 157 Butler St., with Margaret Buysee Standard(?) in the1920 Census, although it shows age 25, not 23?

He was also known as Augustus Standaert.151 He appeared on the census of Jan 1920 at 157 Butler St, Paterson, lists "John Standaret (sic), age 25 (not consistent with 1896), living at 157 Butler St (renter), NJ/B/B, Glass Polisher wife Margaret, age 22, NJ/B/B, Silk Weaver."173

He There is an Amelia Standaert (b 30 Jun 1911, died Jun 1987) in the SSDI. She also died in Barnegat, Ocean County. Possible wife of Frank.174

He died in Jun 1954 at Singac at age 87. He was buried on 22 Jun 1954 at Laurel Grove, Sect 13, Lot 114.

He was also known as Camil Standaert.151 He was also known as Camiel Standaert.

144 He immigrated in 1891 to Paterson.176 He In the 1900 Census, he was 33 years old, living in Little Falls, and his occupation was a railroad worker. Census records indicated that he immigrated around 1890 and was born in Belgium(?). He was living with his wife, Fanny, age 34, with 4 children (one had died). Fanny was born in Belgium in 1866 and immigrated around 1880(?). They were married for about 8 years (about 1891). Their children in the 1900 census were: Mamir (daughter), age 7, Jul 1892, George, age 6, Feb 1894, Louisa, age 2, May 1898, John, age 4/12, Jan 1900.

In the 1910 Census he was listed as Cornelius Standard, age 41, and was living on Newark Turnpike, Little Falls. Census records indicated that he was born in Belgium(?) and immigrated around 1890. He was a drum puller at a carpet mill, could not read or write and was living with his wife, Stephany, age 42. She was bron in Belgium and immigrated in 1890(?). They had 5 children (two had died). They had been married for 19 years. Their children were listed as: Mary, age 17 (Jul 1892?), winder, George, age 16 (Feb 1894?), box boy, Louise, age 12, (May 1898?), John, age 10, (Jan 1900?), Philip, age 4 (Abt 1906).

In the1920 Census, he was listed as Cornelius Standard, age 53, lived on Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls (now Rt. 23). Now said he was born in Holland and immgrated around 1892. He was a fireman in the carpet mill. He lived with his wife Fanny, age 53, born in Belgium, immigrated in 1887. Their children were listed as: John, age 20, laborer, Rubber Mill, Philip, age 14. Their son, George, age 26 and Isabelle Standard, age 29, were listed seperately living on B..... Ave, Little Falls.

He is listed as Cornelius on his gravestone, although in the obituary for Frank Standaert in 1938, and the obituary for David in 1946, he is still referred to by his Dutch name of Camiel. Obit for David(1946) lists as Camiel.

The Zeeland Emigration archives indicate that David (or Theophiel) emigrated to Paterson from Eede on 21 May 1895, with a departure from Abg(?). Records for Theophiel exist in Eede census records, emigration archives, ten-year tables, and birth records. The records in Paterson, including census and death records list the 1871 date! He married Emily M Crougert circa 1897 According to Gus Standard, David's first wife was Emily M. Crougert and she was listed as Lena in the1900 census records. He married Mary Dalmotte circa 1909 at Paterson according to Gus Standard. He died on 8 Dec 1946 at Paterson at age 76 In David's obituary, he was listed as 75 years old, born in Holland on Sept 29, 1871, lived in Paterson for 50 yrs. He died at 82 Highland St. after illness of 18 months. He was married in Paterson to Mary Dalmotte, and was a Butcher and Grocery store owner. he attended Lady of Lourdes RC Church, was a member of the Holy Name Society and was buried at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.179 He was buried on 12 Dec 1946 at Calvary Cemetery, Lot 304A, Paterson, He is buried with John, and Mary Dalmotte. It should be noted that his birth date in the obituary and on his gravestone is 29 Sep 1871, but all records from Eede indicate his actual birth was 10 Sep 1870 !!180

He was also known as Theophiel Standaert.181,151 He emigrated on 21 May 1895 from Eede, NLD, The emigration records list Theophiel Standaert as a blacksmith ('smid') and denotes that he was single ('Burgelijks staat=O'), and was a Roman Catholic. Left from Aardenburg.181,182 David Standard is head of household on the census of 1900 at 60 Mercer St., Paterson, as David Standard. and was listed as 29 years old. He was married for 4 years (c1897) and was born in Holland, as was his mother and father. He was a citizen and lived in the US for 6 years (c1894?, although emigration archive shows 21 May 1895). His occupation was a dyer and he could read and write and lived in a rented house. His wife was 'Lena', born Feb 1879, 21 yrs old, also born Holland, and she immigrated in 1892 (8 years in US). They had one daughter, Lizzy, born Aug 1898, 1 yr old, born in NJ. Enumerated with David Standard were Emily M Crougert and Elizabeth Standard.167 He was naturalized in 1904 at Paterson.170 He lived between 1910 and 1946 at 82 Highland St, Paterson; 82 Highland St,
Paterson, NJ. He was an owner of a grocery store and a butcher between 1910 and 1946 at Riverside, Paterson.

David Standard appeared on the census of Apr 1910 at 82 Highland St, Paterson, and David was listed as 38 years old, and lived on 82 Highland St with second wife, Mary. They were married 1 year, and had 3 children: Eliz age 11, John age 7, and August ag3 3. He worked in a grocery store, could read/write, was born in Holland, and immigrated in 1895. His wife, Mary, was 23 years old, born in Belgium, spoke Flemish, and her mother and father were born in Belgium. She immigrated in 1901 and she had no children.

The records list his year of immigration as 1875 (s/b 1895?) and he was naturalized in 1904, and could read/write. He was a storekeeper, grocery. His wife Mary, age 32, was born in Belgium, and was listed as immigrating in 1902(?), and was also naturalized in 1904.

L. Schuken . Marriage license lists Frank's father as John Standaert and his mother as Barbara VerHULST (sic). The license lists Nathalie's parents as Leopold Snoek and Mary TIMMerman (sic). WItnesses were Theophile Standaert (David Standard) and Verilia(?) Willems.187 He died on 23 Jun 1938 at Paterson at age 65 M; Franks's death certificate from the Paterson Bd of Health says 'Louis (!!) Standaert', occupation 'huckster', retired, died of Chronic Arteriosclerotic Nephritis & Myocarditis Rt Cerebral apoxlexy after1 day illness.

His obituary says 'Died Thursday (23 June 1938) at home suddenly. Funeral Monday, 27 June from home at 356 E 19th St, Mass at Lady of Lourdes, Holy Sepulchre. Born Holland, came to Paterson 42 years ago. Hobby was racing pigeons. Survived by wife Nellie, sons and daughters, two brothers: Camiel and David and 7 grandchildren.'

188,189 He was buried on 27 Jun 1938 at Holy Sepulchre, 52 Totowa Road, Plot 11-2, Paterson, M; tombstone says (1873-1938) buried with Nellie (1873-1953) and Margaret (1897-1958).168

He was listed as 'smid' (blacksmith) in his emigration papers in Jun 1893 at Eede, NLD.181 He was was noted as Roman Catholic (RK) in the emigration archives.181 He emigrated on 6 Jun 1893 from Eede, NLD, He was single when he emigrated. ('Burgelijks staat= O' or Ongehuweden). His original old trunk in basement in Hawthorne says 'FRANCIES Standaert, Paterson, NJ' with 'Francies' in script.

He was single and apparently emigrated alone to meet his brothers in America in Paterson, NJ. He was steerage passenger number 777 on the SS Friesland and was berthed in lower cabin 6 C. The SS Friesland carried 804 passengers of which 74 were Saloon class, 120 second class and 796 in steerage. Only 100 were citizens, the remaining 890 were emigrating in a 'permanent sojourner' category. The SS Friesland was part of the Red Star Line which sailed from Antwerp to New York, arriving in New York on June 20, 1893. It was a Belgian flagged ship and Harlich Erick Nickels was the master. Frank Standaert was 20 years, 4 months old, a native of Holland, was a workman by occupation and carried only one piece of baggage (the old black trunk??)

The 'Friesland' was a 7116 gross ton vessel built by J & G Thomson, Glasgow in 1889 for the Red Star Line. Her details were - length 437ft x beam 51.2ft, clipper stem, one funnel, four masts, steel construction, single screw and a speed of 15 knots. There was accommodation for 226-1st, 102-2nd and 600-3rd class passengers. She sailed under the Belgian flag. Launched on 15/8/1889, she sailed from Antwerp for New York on her maiden voyage on 7/12/1889. She commenced her last voyage on this service on 10/1/1903 and was then transferred to the American Line under the US flag. She was refitted to carry 300-2nd class and 600-3rd class passengers and put onto the Liverpool - Philadelphia service, commencing 25/3/1903. She made her last voyage on this run in May 1911 and was then sold to an Italian company who removed two of her masts and renamed her 'La Plata'. She was scrapped in 1912;

Franciscus Standaert appeared on the census of 1900 at 71 Highland Street, Paterson, as "Frank Standard, age 27' living at 71 Highland St, Paterson with wife Nellie, age 27, born March, 1873. They had a son Joseph, age 4 born Jan 1895, and daughter Maggie, age 2 born Sep1897. They also were living with his mother-in-law, Mary Snook, age 63 (born April 1837), and his brother-in-law, Pelin (Peter?) Snoek, age 20 (born Jun 1879).

They had been married for 5 years or approximately 1895. The census records show that he immigrated in 1894 (should be 1893?) and that he and his parents were born in Holland. His birth was listed as Oct 1872 (? should have been February, 1873?)."

He was living with wife Nellie, age 37, and children George age 14, Marg, age 12, Mary age 3, and Will age 2/12. His occupation was a peddler. Records indicated that he and parents were born in Holland and that he immigrated in 1894 (should be 1893)."

Franciscus Standaert appeared on the census of Jan 1920 at 242 Van Blarcom Street, Paterson, In the Jan, 1920 Census it lists Frank Standaret (sic), age 47 living at 242 VanBlarcom St, with wife, Nellie, age 47, and all four children. It lists Joseph, age 24, single, head bookkeeper office, Margaret, age 22, single, Mary, age 13, William, age 9, and Florence, age 5. His occupation was a Peddler-Green Grocer and he owned his house. Records show he immigrated in 1883 (should have been 1893) and was naturalized in 1899(?). Census now shows, correctly, that he and his mother were born in Holland, and his father was born in Belgium.
