23. Anne5 Cullom66,52,51 was also listed as being born circa 1761 at Abbeville District, SC.14 She was born in 1762.43 She married Moses Smith (see #22) in 1784.54,55,53 She died on 6 Dec 1830 at Abbeville County, SC.67,14 She died on 5 Dec 1830.43 She was buried in Dec 1830 at Old Greenville Church Cemetery, Donalds, Abbeville County, SC, Tombstone inscription says:
"Sacred to the memory of Mrs Anne Smith, consort of Moses Smith of Abbeville District, who died on the 6th day of Dec 1830 in the 69th year of her life."
She was also known as Anne Cullum according to "Greenwood County Sketches": Her maiden name was a 'family tradition' of either Cullom or Cullum.54 She was also erroneously known as Anne Haddon as found in a transcribed bible record.43 She Transcribed bible records from DAR application file for Cora Elizabeth Smith (Indiana DAR chapter) shows specific names, dates and lists Anne Haddon, born 1762, died 05 DEC 1830, marriage 1784. (I believe this is wrong and was confused with Ebenezer Smith's wife Mary Anne Haddon when transcribed).
"SC Rev Soldiers, Sailors and Patriots" (Maddox) lists Moses Smith, w. Anne Cullom.
"DAR Patriot Index" (1966) lists Moses Smith, m. Ann Cullom.43,68,69,70
24. John5 Brown (Levi, #28)14,14 was born on 17 Dec 1770 at Worcester County, MD.14 He married Mary Bell (see #25) in 1794.14 He died in 1830.14
Children of John5 Brown and Mary Bell (see #25) were as follows:
25. Mary5 Bell14 was born on 18 May 1774 at Baltimore, MD.14 She married John Brown (see #24), son of Levi Brown, in 1794.14 She died on 26 Aug 1846 at age 72.14
26. Fenton6 Hall Sr. ((--?--), #29)71 was born in 1746 at Halifax County, VA.72 He married Hannah Brown (see #27) in 1773.72 He died circa 1817 at Pendleton District, SC, Death information from Anderson County Will Book A 1800-1835, pp21-213 1817. Will dated 20 Nov 1809, proven 25 Mar 1817.72,73
He From Roland Hall (Jan, 2000):
Roland shared a very large GEDCOM file on family research on the Hall ancestry. Research indicated that Fenton Hall, Sr was son of William Hall, Jr. and Eliizabeth Choice. Further data links this line back to a Dr. Richard Hall. Subsequent to receiving Roland's data, I received additional corresponsence from Wynell Simpson who indicates that there are still questions with this family line and he has been trying to confirm relationships and correct errors for years. I am leaving my line at Fenton Hall, Sr. until issue is resolved.72 He From Wynell Simpson (Mar, 2000):
"This William Hall and Ann Matthews are probably NOT the ancestors of Fenton, Nathaniel, John, and Sarah Hall.
This was published in the WFT Vol. 5 which was based on SPECULATION. Even the WFT Vol. 5 author says it is SPECULATION. However, no one seems to read that word. The SPECULATION was from Lillie Hall Antonakas who herself said that it was SPECULATION.
After many years of investigating this I and others cannot make it fit. There was a William Hall who married Ann Matthews, but nothing about it says it is the same William Hall who may be the ancestor of the siblings Fenton, Nathaniel, John, and Sarah.
May I add that a William Hall has NOT been proven to be the father of Fenton, Nathaniel, John, and Sarah Hall. "74 He From Family Anecdotes:
"See notes on Lyman Hall, who was a signer of the Declaration of Indepenence from Georgia. Family history indicates he may have been present at the Hall house the night one of Fenton's children was born? Lyman was supposedly on the way to Philadelphia at the time. Lyman Hall had no children, so not directly related."75 He From Wynell Simpson (Mar, 2000):
"There has never been any hint or suggestion that the Fenton Hall line is anyway connected to Lyman Hall.
No one ever mentioned it in the early documents on this Hall family. They should have known. I am afraid this is just another bit of misinformation that this Hall family is plagued with.
If someone knows of any, please post it."74 He From Wynell Simpson (Mar, 2000):
"It is highly unlikely that Fenton Hall's mother was Elizabeth Choice. Elizabeth Choice was born about 1750. Fenton Hall was born about 1750 also. Elizabeth Choice would be the same age as her children. Some people have noticed this and tried to give her an earlier birthdate, but that just does not fit with the other children of Tully Choice who was her father.
The birthdates of Tully Choice SR's children are from the DAR records for Tully Choice SR. His children were all born after 1749.
It is true that Elizabeth Choice did marry a William Hall, but not the William Hall who may be the father of Fenton, Nathaniel, John, and Sarah. There were several William Halls in the area and some much closer to Tully Choice than the William who may be the father of Fenton Hall.
The father of the siblings has not been proven. He may we a William Hall or he may not be.
This misinformation has been turned in to the LDS which makes it very hard to overcome. "74 He lived in 1802 at First Creek of Rocky River, SC, based on fact that he bought 150 acres of land from Israel Pickens for $150, on First Creek of Rocky River in deed signed 10 Feb 1802.76 He left a will on 20 Nov 1809 at Anderson County, SC; and the will was proven 25 Mar 1817 and witnessed by Harbert Tucker, William Pickens, and James Hodge. Executors were his sons, Johnston and Fenton. In the will he left furniture, 3 negroes, and farm tools to his wife, Hannah.76,77
Children of Fenton6 Hall Sr. and Hannah Brown (see #27) were as follows:
27. Hannah6 Brown78 married Fenton Hall Sr. (see #26), son of (--?--) Hall, in 1773.72
28. Levi6 Brown.14
Children of Levi6 Brown include:
Children of (--?--)7 Hall include:
He left a will on 19 Oct 1793 at Anderson County, SC; and was proven on 24 Jan 1797. His executors were his "brothers Fenton Hall and John Hall."81
